Grace Jr.’s gift shop started more than 40 Years ago in November of 1963. Grace Allread founded her retail gift store at 1430 Bidwell Avenue in Chico, California and quickly expanded to add The Candle Barn, a second building, presenting home décor gifts and unique and classic gifts.

Moving to what is now a Tri County bank branch at the corner of 5th Street and Salem Street, Grace continued to add jewelry, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, pins, brooches and pendant gifts to her already singular offerings.

Always known for great greeting cards, a drawer in the hall was added for those greeting cards that are a bit risqué.

Grace and Poni spend long hours selecting unique and classic gifts from such suppliers as Jeanine Payer, Debbee Thibault, Authentic Models, Infinity Instruments, Midwest, Department 56, Lisa McKenzie, Santa Fe Stoneworks, Silver Seasons, Angieolami, Smart Women, McKenna Hallet, MacLaren, Motwai, Museum of Jewelry, Schylling, Argent, Facets, Wendt & Kuhn, Skagen, Tampopo, Hillary Druxman, Trevally. Each these suppliers of home décor gifts, jewelry gifts of earrings, bracelets, brooches, pins, necklaces and pendants are all world-class crafters.

Grace Jr. holds many events in the course of the year. Some of those include numerous trunk shows featuring Jeanine Payer, Debbee Thibault, Authentic Models, Infinity Instruments, Midwest, Department 56, Lisa McKenzie, Santa Fe Stoneworks, Silver Seasons, Angieolami, Smart Women, McKenna Hallet, MacLaren, Motwai, Museum of Jewelry, Schylling, Argent, Facets, Wendt & Kuhn, Skagen, Tampopo, Hillary Druxman, and Trevally. Art on a Fence, the Christmas Opener, Men’s Night are other interesting opportunities for our patrons to enjoy a unique shopping experience. The specific dates of these events vary and we’ll send out notices when we are within one month of the event.

The gift shop has now been at 331 West 5th Street between the Stansbury Home on the corner of 5th and Salem and next to the most excellent 5th Street Steakhouse, for more than 28 years. A frequent participant in silent auctions other efforts like the recent Museum Without Walls series promoting the founding of the Northern California Natural History Museum, Grace and Grace Jr. enjoys supporting many local organizations.

Our gift shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm and on Sunday from 11am to 4pm.
